Welcome to the 5th Annual Palo Duro Hot Dog Run!!!
This race is in the scenic Palo Duro Canyon located in Armstrong County just 12 miles south of Claude, TX on Hwy 207 near Silver Mesa Ranch. It is a road race that begins at the north rim and extends 15 kilometers (or 9.3 miles) to the south rim where the finish line is.
After last year's success we are looking forward to growing in numbers and making this year's even better!

No Race day registration! Last day to register online is July 12, 2011. You may also register at packet pickup
Race start 8 am for Individual 15K runners and 3-person relay
This is a one way course--cars may be parked at the north rim along Highway 207.
You are responsible for getting to your relay point on race day.
Aid stations: There will be aid stations at approximately miles 3.1, 4.5, 6.2, and 8.3. They will have water, gatorade, bananas, pretzels, fun themes and music!
Aid station 1: fully stocked
Aid station 2: water and gatorade only
Aid station 3: fully stocked
Aid station 4: water and gatorade only
For 3-person relay: Each leg will run a 5K (3.1 miles). The member of the team who will be crossing the finish line will wear the race number.
Each member of the team must fill out a registration form and sign the waivers.
The first leg of the race has a large drop in elevation, the second leg has a rolling hills, and the third leg must make the climb back up.
When arriving at your exchange point, make the relay exchange by giving your teammate a high five--that's when the next leg leaves.
Remember: this race is in the middle of July in the Texas Panhandle. Temperatures can get high very quickly so it is strongly recommended that you bring your own fuel belt, CamelBak, water bottle, etc.

Stay after the race! We have a great post-race party! We will serve hot dogs, snacks and beverages at the rest area at the south rim of Palo Duro Canyon at the finish line.
Awards ceremony after last runner crosses the finish line!
Awards to overall male and female (Texas shaped, engraved wooden plaques)
Age group awards: Male/female 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ (gold, silver, bronze medals)
Top relay team: All male, all female, coed (3 gold medals--one for each member of the team
Be sure you look at a map! This is NOT in Palo Duro Canyon State Park! Please don't make that mistake! We had a few runners go to the wrong location last year!
